Report: Iowa management have taken the final decision on their coach

Fran McCaffery’s son refutes rumors that Hawkeyes coach wants to leave Iowa.

Connor McCaffery, the son of Iowa men’s basketball coach Fran McCaffery, took to social media Sunday to dispel rumors that his father wants to leave his job. Connor reacted to a post on X, previously Twitter, claiming that the older McCaffery “wants out” of Iowa City, but his “ego won’t let him take a smaller job.” The account who made the accusation, which goes by the pseudonym “Coaching Changes,” also stated that the coach “hates this recruiting era.” Former Hawkeyes player Connor McCaffery quickly denied the claim. And he did it bluntly.

Fran McCaffery, 64, guided the Hawkeyes to an 18-14 record this season and is coming off a second-round loss to Ohio State in Big Ten tournament. Connor played for his father for four years before finishing his undergraduate career last March.
