Report: Another Iowa talented star entered the transfer portal

Dasonte Bowen, an Iowa basketball sophomore, missed much of the season due to injury, according to a report on the transfer portal.
According to On3, Iowa sophomore guard Dasonte Bowen is entering the transfer portal. The announcement came the day after the Hawkeyes defeated Kansas State in the first round of the NIT.

Caitlin Clark was voted National Player of the Year by Sporting News.

The Associated Press selected Clark a first-team all-American. Clark is the only player in school history to be selected an AP only Team All-American for three straight years. Clark earned the Second Team during her rookie year.

Clark will leave for the WNBA following the postseason, but she is determined to return to the National Championship.

“I think our group knows well enough that NCAA Tournament is the best postseason tournament in all of sports,” Clark went on to say. “If you don’t have it for one night, your season is over in an instant. We are only guaranteed one more game as a team, therefore you must come in and prepare every day as if it were your last.

“We simply want to keep having fun with one other and cherish these memories. We understand how difficult and time-consuming it is to reach the Final Four, but also how much joy it is. So I believe that having that expertise will surely benefit us.”

Sporting News selected Caitlin Clark, a senior guard at the University of Iowa, its National Player of the Year on Wednesday. The publication also named her to its First Team.

Clark has a career point total of 3,700+, and she was recently the first Division-I player to score 1,000+ points in two consecutive seasons. Clark, a West Des Moines, Iowa native, is again a nominee for every major national player of the year award. Clark leads the country in assists (8.9 assists per game) and scoring (31.9 points per game), becoming the first player to finish first in both categories in consecutive seasons. She is also the only player in NCAA Division I men’s or women’s basketball history to lead her conference in scoring and assists for four straight seasons.

Clark was just voted Big Ten Player of the Year, becoming the first player in school history to be chosen First Team All-Big Ten four times in four years of competition. She has also guided the Hawkeyes to three consecutive Big Ten championships, the first time in program history.
