Bleacher Report: Saints announce possible Chris Olave replacement

This wide receiver prospect’s skill set is ideal for the Saints scheme.
The New Orleans Saints will have numerous outstanding receivers to pick from in the 2024 NFL Draft, but there is one candidate that is a perfect match for the scheme.

The New Orleans Saints must select a great wide receiver in the 2024 NFL Draft. Fortunately for the Saints, the wide receiver draft class is deep. That’s especially good news for the Saints since it will allow them to choose an offensive lineman in the first round at No. 14 while also acquiring a talented receiver in the second round at No. 45.

Once New Orleans is on the clock at 45, the club will most likely have numerous receivers to pick from. While all of the eligible players have potential, the Saints must determine which receiver is most suited to their needs. Derrik Klassen of Bleacher Report feels he already has an answer to that question.

Klassen argued in a recent essay that the Saints are a good landing point for Western Kentucky wide receiver Malachi Corley.

Malachi Corley has been considered the Saints’ best fit for receiver.
Malachi Corley is a 5-foot-11, 215-pound running back/receiver. Of course, this means his main strength is YAC, or yards after catch. Klassen stated, “He’s not yet a polished, spacious route-runner, but my god, he can bring the agony with the ball in his hands. He’s an explosive, powerful ball carrier who has the innate vision and balance to gain additional yards in any situation.

Naturally, Corley is frequently likened to Deebo Samuel. That’s why the San Francisco 49ers, Miami Dolphins, and New Orleans Saints were identified as prospective landing spots for him. The 49ers presently have Samuel, but the other two clubs have coaches who were formerly with San Francisco: Mike McDaniel, Miami’s head coach, and Klint Kubiak, New Orleans’ offensive coordinator.

Corley would undoubtedly be a fantastic weapon to have in New Orleans. The Saints will be able to use him as both a receiver and a gadget player, giving Kubiak multiple flexible players to draw up for.
