Jimmy Graham hinted at retirement in a social media post
Veteran tight end. In a recent social media post, Jimmy Graham strongly implied that his NFL career may be finished.
Graham shared a statement on Instagram Friday that sounded like a retirement announcement, but he never said so. Graham praised the city of New Orleans, Saints fans, his coaches, and his teammates, and while he hinted at a possible return, he did not seem like he expected to play again.
“Thank you, New Orleans, for believing in me.” Graham commented, “Thank you for the memories, love, and incredible journey.” “Playing for this city and for you, the fans, has been a life-changing honor. I’m not sure what the future holds for me, but I’m grateful for the opportunity to wear (No.) 80 again and find the end zone in the only home I know.”
Graham, 37, spent the first five seasons of his career in New Orleans before returning in 2023 after missing the whole 2022 season. He dealt with a troubling off-field incident and was virtually solely employed in the red zone, with four of his six catches for touchdowns on just seven targets over 13 games.
Graham was a standout tight end early in his career and a favorite target of Drew Brees during his first years with the Saints. If this is the end of his career, he will undoubtedly be remembered warmly in New Orleans.
