Report: Saints finally announce the signing of two players

The Saints acquire depth at wide out and quarterback.

Equanimeous St. Brown, a five-year veteran, is the New Orleans Saints’ newest wide receiver signing, the organization announced on Friday. St. Brown is the older brother of Amon-Ra St. Brown, a Detroit Lions All-Pro receiver. According to Katherine Terrell of ESPN, the arrangement is for one year.
The 6-foot-5, 214-pound receiver will join Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed, A.T. Perry, Cedrick Wilson, and Stanley Morgan in the New Orleans receiving corps for the 2024 season. Due to injuries, he appeared in only seven 2023 games with the Chicago Bears, where he had spent the previous two seasons. He started 16 games in 2022 and caught 21 passes for 323 yards and a score. He also carried six times for 54 yards.

Andrew Janocko, the Saints quarterbacks coach, has made another signing from his old organization. New Orleans signed former Bears quarterback Nathan Peterman earlier this summer, and now St. Brown.

On Friday, the club also signed quarterback Kellen Mond, who played backup quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings in 2021. Klint Kubiak, the Saints’ offensive coordinator, played the same job for the Vikings that season, and Janocko served as the team’s quarterback coach. Mond never saw significant playing time in Minnesota and now battles with Peterman and 2023 rookie Jake Haener for New Orleans’ backup slot behind Derek Carr.

Mond is also acquainted with many offensive lineman on the Saints. Erik McCoy snapped the ball from Mond’s center, Cesar Ruiz, at Texas A&M. Ruiz attended IMG Academy for his high school education. Mond was most recently a member of the 2023 practice squad for the Indianapolis Colts.
