The UNC football program has added another defensive lineman to its 2025 recruiting class.
Mack Brown and the UNC football program are making news in the 2025 recruiting cycle, as they add another talented defensive lineman to their roster.
The UNC football program has added a defensive lineman prospect from the Class of 2025 on consecutive days, with three-star Devin Ancrum becoming the latest to commit to the Tar Heels.
The 6-foot-2, 295-pounder from Hoschton, Georgia, is rated a three-star prospect by 247Sports. He is the No. 93 overall player from his own state. With his commitment, the UNC football program now has nine players in its 2025 recruiting class.
Ancrum comes from a familiar background, as he presently competes for Hoschton (Ga.) Mill Creek High School. Last year, the Tar Heels received pledges from two players from the same school; offensive lineman Aiden Banfield and defensive back Jaiden Patterson are already on campus as members of the program.
Ancrum quickly realized Chapel Hill was the right spot for him, given his connection to the Tar Heels began only a few months ago. After Ted Monachino was named defensive line coach at North Carolina, Ancrum was offered a scholarship, and his formal visit to campus aided his choice.
Prior to committing to North Carolina, Ancrum considered several programs, including Duke, Georgia Tech, NC Central, NC State, Tulane, UAB, and UCF. He had scheduled visits to Duke and Georgia Tech, but those visits would not take place.
This is another good signing for Mack Brown and the Tar Heels, particularly considering the program’s defensive improvement ambitions. It’s reasonable to say that more players are on their way, since the Tar Heels are far from finished with this recruiting cycle.
