Breaking: Panthers Closing In On Deal To Sign $23.4 Million WR With 4.3 Speed
Dave Canales, the first-year head coach of the Carolina Panthers, was hired to return the Panthers to winning ways.
Part of the job description includes assisting in the development of second-year quarterback Bryce Young into a much better NFL player.
In order to accomplish this, Canales, GM Dan Morgan, and owner David Tepper must obtain additional weapons.
They already have veteran Adam Thielen.
They also made a trade for Pro Bowl receiver Diontae Jonson earlier this offseason.
They now appear to be focusing on developing some weaponry for him.
If Carolina is actually committed to assisting Young, they don’t need to look any further than their own backyard to locate him a prospective running partner.
Xavier Legette, a South Carolina receiver, is reportedly one of their favorite prospects.
Legette told USA Today’s John Crumpler that he had “met with the Panthers 4 or 5 times” throughout the pre-draft process and is ready to be drafted.
Legette possesses many of the attributes required to be a great pass-catcher in this league for an extended period of time.
He stands at 6-3 and weighs around 230 pounds.
The funny thing about that is he has 4.3 speed.
Running that fast at that size isn’t something that happens in the NFL all that often.
This wide receiver class is really deep, so it’s easy to overlook a player who isn’t from Ohio State or LSU.
But Legette is a legitimate player who can lead the Panthers into the future alongside Young.
