Quinnipiac’s Jacob Quillan has signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Quillan’s signing adds depth to the Maple Leafs’ center position.
The Toronto Maple Leafs announced that they had signed Quinnipiac star center Jacob Quillan to a two-year entry-level contract.
The 22-year-old finished second on the Bobcats’ regular season scoring list with 46 points in 39 games, three behind highly sought-after free agent Collin Graf. He also won the Eastern College Athletic Conference Gladiator Best Defensive Forward Award.
While his side was eliminated in a devastating 5-4 overtime loss to Boston College last night, Quillan played an important role in the close game, scoring two goals and taking six shots on goal.
According to Daily Faceoff source Frank Seravalli, Quillan was one of the best college free agents in this year’s class, with some NHL scouts saying the Dartmouth, Nova Scotia native has a bigger upside than Graf.
Quillan has a strong two-way presence and is no stranger to coming through in crucial situations, having scored the overtime winning goal for Quinnipiac in the 2023 NCAA title game.
Quillan totaled 38 goals and 55 assists in 116 NCAA games across three seasons. He’s expected to join the Marlies for the remainder of the season.
