Breaking: St. Louis Surprisingly Make Move To Sign Ex-Rays All-Star To Give Cardinals Boost Due To Injuries
St. Louis could use some additional outfield depth right now.
The St. Louis Cardinals have not been at full strength in a single game this season, and it does not appear like they will be anytime soon.
St. Louis hasn’t had the best start to the season, sitting at 11-14 and bottom in the National League Central. The Cardinals should improve as some of their injured players return to the field, but it may be beneficial for the team to add some depth.
The Cardinals appeared to have a strong outfield, but things are not going as planned. Tommy Edman and Dylan Carlson are both sidelined and have not played a game yet this season. Jordan Walker, a talented outfielder with the Cardinals, was recently demoted down to the minor levels.
While there are no immediate starters for the Cardinals, there are players who can provide further depth. Austin Meadows, a former All-Star, is one player who would make a good fit.
Meadows is a former top prospect who has found success in the major leagues, but he has only played in 42 games over the last two seasons. He has struggled with injuries and anxiousness. It’s uncertain whether he’s ready to return to the field, but if so, the Cardinals should call him.
Meadows hit 60 home runs and drove in 195 runs across his two fully healthy seasons in 2019 and 2021. He has a lot of promise and is only 28 years old. St. Louis currently lacks outfielders, and Meadows may help.
