Report: Texans GM Nick Caserio approve the signing top talented star to key position

Texans GM Explains Why They Traded for Stefon Diggs.

The Houston Texans took a significant risk when they traded for Stefon Diggs.

It appeared to be a terrific move at first, but the Texans’ decision to invalidate the last years of his contract led some to believe they made an error.
Diggs is coming off a subpar season by his standards and comes with a lot of baggage and well-documented character issues, so taking a chance on a second-round choice may not be the best decision.
With that in mind, Pat McAfee asked Texans General Manager Nick Caserio about the reasoning behind this move on “The Pat McAfee Show.”

Caserio answered that they do not criticize players based on what happened to them elsewhere.

Instead, they emphasize his durability and productivity over the years, as well as their complete trust in him.

To be honest, Diggs is still a star in this league, and he’s an excellent addition to this wide receiver corps, at least on paper.

Even if he’s largely a decoy, having him out there will make C.J. Stroud’s job much simpler, which is what it was all about from the beginning.

If he stays motivated, he can have a rebound year and repay the Texans’ trust by re-signing with them.

If it doesn’t work out or he causes problems inside the organization again, they may simply move on from him and accept the expense of losing that pick for a one-year rental.

It’s a hazardous approach, to say the least, but that’s frequently how championship teams are formed.
