Dodgers injured pitcher could return sooner rather than later.
Can we visit him this weekend?
The Los Angeles Dodgers could return to their best relief pitcher as early as this weekend. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said reliever Blake Treinen might be activated from the 15-day injured list during the weekend series against the Atlanta Braves.
Roberts told reporters, including Dodgers Nation’s J.P. Hoornstra, that Blake Treinen might be activated during this homestand.
Treinen’s rehabilitation is developing steadily. He recently proven his readiness by playing consecutive games for Triple-A Oklahoma on Wednesday and Thursday. Throughout two innings, he only allowed one hit and struck out three batters, indicating a promising return to form.
The 35-year-old most recently pitched in an exhibition game against the Texas Rangers on March 9. He sustained a rib injury on a strong comebacker to the mound. Treinen has now recovered from his injury, and the Dodgers could have their finest relief pitcher back in the bullpen.
His comeback is noticeable, considering he has not pitched for the Boys in Blue during the regular season or postseason since 2022.
Dodgers finish closer Evan Phillips is on the injured list with a hamstring strain and activated. Blake Treinen
Dodgers’ closer Evan Phillips was placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday due to a strained right hamstring.
The change was made retroactive to Saturday. Phillips was harmed after his spike became stuck in the grass while playing catch, according to Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts. It is a Grade 1 strain, which is the least severe form.
Phillips, 29, has a 0.66 ERA and eight saves through 14 games this season. Roberts stated that the team has no immediate substitute in mind to finish games.
In a matching move, the Dodgers activated reliever Blake Treinen. He was hoping to make his first MLB debut since 2022.
Treinen was restored from the 15-day injured list. The 35-year-old right-hander had been sidelined with a bruised lung and fractured ribs after being hit by a line shot during spring training. He missed the entire 2023 season after undergoing shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum and rotator cuff.
