‘Win one more!’ Travis Kelce wants Aaron Donald to sign with the Chiefs.
Aaron Donald, probably the best player in franchise history, retired last week, leaving the Los Angeles Rams. Travis Kelce now wants him to join the Kansas City Chiefs, the defending Super Bowl champions.
The Los Angeles Rams’ 2024 season was dealt a significant blow this week when Aaron Donald, probably the best player in organization history, announced his retirement.
Donald, who remained a powerful force as a defensive lineman, finished his 10-year career as one of the most decorated players in NFL history.
He was still so good that Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce wants him to come back and compete for another Super Bowl title with the defending champions.
“A shout-out to AD. “Unbelievable career,” Kelce stated on his podcast. “If you want to win one more Super Bowl, we’ll probably have some availability somewhere in December.”
All that said, Donald’s departure on Friday was not entirely unexpected.
Rumors about the former Pittsburgh Panther’s retirement began after the Rams defeated the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI. But Donald kept coming back—until now.
Donald even revealed the reason for his decision to retire, citing a lack of motivation and desire to continue playing.
“I’m finished.” “I’m full,” Donald stated. “I believe my passion for the game has faded. I’ll always love football, but the thought of going through another camp and another 17 seasons makes me want to stop pushing myself. I’m just burned out. The simplest way to explain it is that I’m full, complete, and content with what I’ve accomplished in ten years… it’s time to move on.”
All being said, if any team could give Donald a cause to return, it would most likely be the Chiefs, who are in a strong position to compete for another Super Bowl in 2024.
