Breaking: Commanders Closing On Deal To Sign $100 Million Free Agent WR

Following the recent NFL Draft in 2024, wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., a $100 million free agent and former Baltimore Raven, could sign with the Washington Commanders, an unexpected NFC team, this summer. Many teams in the league are busy during this stretch of time seeking to add veterans to their rosters to increase depth. One of the many outstanding wide receivers still looking for a new NFL team to call home is Beckham. The Commanders were among the “best landing spots” for the LSU product, a source claimed.

By choosing Jayden Daniels as the second overall pick in this year’s draft, the Commanders have been creating a lot of noise. Luke McCaffrey, a weapon in the wide receiver room after Curtis Samuel was lost to the Buffalo Bills in free agency, was added by the team. To aid Daniels in adjusting to his rookie season, the Commanders are seeking to bolster their depth with experienced players. Beckham may be paired with Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson to fill that depth position.

The problem with this is that, having only won one Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams, Beckham might just be ring-chasing at this point in his career. But it does give the LSU product the opportunity to work with a team that is moving in the right direction. The idea is that, despite rumors to the contrary, the Commanders may be able to recruit one more proven veteran to support the young talent. The Commanders may target Tyler Boyd, a tall-slot former Cincinnati Bengal, according to a source.

To get the most out of their offense, though, the objective is to continue supplying QB prospect Jayden Daniels with skill. They did their research by selecting tight end Ben Sinnott and quarterback McCaffrey, but it would be imperative to add a veteran.

The Team Should Start Building Around Their Future

After a dismal 4-13 season the previous year under former head coach Ron Rivera, the Commanders are headed in the right way in turning their franchise around. With a busy offseason, the team was able to add important offensive pieces by signing a number of free players. But the main goal is to surround Daniels with players who can help him get off to a quick start in the NFL and develop into one of the top quarterbacks in the game. When they appointed Dan Quinn as their next head coach, they were doing the same thing.

They may have their man for the next ten years, but to help supplement Dotson and McLaurin, they still need a reliable wide receiver. During the excitement around the Brandon Aiyuk trade, there was a report that the Commanders might target. Given the interest he’s getting from multiple organizations, if they want him, now would be the time. Beckham has 35 receptions last year for 565 yards and three touchdowns.

He returned the next year to demonstrate that he still had gas in the tank after rupturing his ACL in 2022. The LSU star, who consistently posted 1,000-yard seasons, was thought to be the best receiver in the NFL. If Beckham doesn’t end up with the Commanders, he could be a good fit for any of these other teams.
