Birmingham are looking for a “superb” manager who claims to have learned from Rooney.
After parting ways with Gary Rowett following a disappointing interim term in charge, Birmingham City are apparently adding a new face to their management shortlist in case Tony Mowbray does not take over next season.

Birmingham’s season ended with Championship relegation, which is a disaster given where they were earlier in the season. They were on track to challenge for a play-off spot under Eustace, but instead chose to appoint Wayne Rooney, a choice they swiftly regretted.
Then, following Rooney’s calamity, Mowbray was obliged to make way for Rowett, putting the Blues back where they started.
Birmingham are in quest of a new manager and have already been linked with former manager Steve Bruce, who has more than enough experience to bring them back to the Championship at the first attempt. But now it appears that the club is looking for a younger candidate.
According to Wayne Veysey of Football Insider, Birmingham have shortlisted Liam Rosenior for the management position following his surprise resignation from Hull City. Rosenior was nominated for the Championship’s Manager of the Season award, but his failure to earn a spot in the play-offs prompted Hull to fire him, much to the astonishment of many.
To avoid any Rooney parallels, the 39-year-old would need to get off to a strong start at St Andrew’s, especially after claiming to have learned from the Manchester United veteran when working in the Derby County dugout together.
Rosenior told Derby’s official website, “Wayne is intelligent around people. He cares about them as well, and he has been able to demonstrate that to him in such a terrible situation.
