Breaking news: Celtic agree terms for QPR star player

Celtic and the Premier League are interested in signing QPR’s free agent.
After his contract with Everton expired in the summer of last year, the goalkeeper joined QPR on a one-year contract, bringing experience to the team.

Goalkeeper Asmir Begovic of QPR, who ended his one-year contract with the London club in the Championship this season, has been linked to an unexpected return to Premier League action.
The 36-year-old veteran goalkeeper signed a season-long contract at Loftus Road last year and has been an important player for the R’s this season. The Bosnian started 45 Championship games in goal for QPR this season, taking Seny Dieng’s spot after the latter moved to Middlesbrough.

Begovic, a former player for Stoke City, Chelsea, and Everton, will be a free agent this summer and will leave QPR if a new contract is not reached. The goalkeeping plans of Marti Cifuentes for the upcoming campaign are still unknown; on the last day of the season, rising sensation Joe Walsh was given his first league start, and Jordan Archer was let go from Loftus Road.
According to journalist Alan Nixon’s Patreon, Begovic may now become a target for his old team, AFC Bournemouth, in summer. Begovic is regarded as an accomplished player who might strengthen the team’s roster; Celtic has also reportedly expressed interest in acquiring him.

Over the past 12 months, Begovic has occasionally faced criticism from QPR supporters, particularly when the team struggled to defend set plays. Cifuentes, nevertheless, continued to defend the player.

“I think that Asmir has been showing, as all the goalkeepers, it’s very easy to criticize the goalkeeper when they make one mistake,” he said in response to questions concerning the criticism earlier this year. “But sometimes, especially football fans, we tend to forget that Asmir was fantastic at Swansea, for instance.”He made two vital saves in two very important moments, but we prevailed 1-0.He once again kept the game close for us, as we triumphed here in Hull a few months ago with a magnificent display.

“There’s little doubt that those three points would not have been achievable without him. And today, I emphasized once more that the major players always show up for the big games. In my opinion, he demonstrated today that his career is nothing more than a string of lucky strikes.

“He has demonstrated his superiority as a keeper once again today. He has been a top keeper playing at a top level for many years.”
