Breaking: Palace are closing in on talks to sign 24-year-old Midfielder

Crystal Palace have reportedly joined the hunt to capture Norwich City’s Gabriel Sara.

According to Brazilian source UOL, the Premier League club is in talks with Sara’s entourage about a possible summer transfer.

Several Premier League and European clubs have scouted Sara throughout the Championship season, during which he scored 25 goals and was named to the league’s official team of the season.

The story backs up rumors made in Italy earlier this week that Sara is also on the radar of Serie A team Roma, who are looking for a box-to-box midfielder. According to reports, new technical director Florian Ghisolfi has identified the Norwich guy as a potential target.

Norwich are bracing for interest in the 24-year-old, with Sao Paulo reportedly entitled to 10% of any profits from a prospective exit.

Sara is said to be content at Carrow Road and unlikely to seek a transfer, but she does want to play in the Premier League.

Norwich City are expected to demand a significant fee for Sara, while Josh Sargent, Jon Rowe, and Angus Gunn are also expected to draw interest this summer. Following last season’s inability to secure promotion under David Wagner, sporting director Ben Knapper is rebuilding the squad.

Sara was a constant presence during that campaign, playing as a central, attacking, and wide midfielder.

Palace had a successful end to the Premier League season under new manager Oliver Glasner, winning six of their last seven games, including 4-0 wins over Manchester United and Aston Villa.

There is believed to be interest in Palace duo Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze, leaving them looking for replacements.

Palace has a long record of recruiting in the EFL, with Olise and Eze being examples, most recently signing Adam Wharton from Blackburn in January, who impressed enough to gain a berth in Gareth Southgate’s provisional team for Euro 2024.

They have also been boosted by news that sporting director Dougie Freedman is set to reject the advances of Newcastle United.
