Breaking: Hearts fans on transfer alert as 26-year-old free agent teases move
Cammy Devlin has sparked speculation that Stephen Humphrys could return to Hearts.
Humphrys, 26, is now a free agent after being released by Wigan Athletic at the end of the season. He scored 11 goals in 46 games for Shaun Maloney’s team, which finished 12th in EFL League One. Humphrys was on loan at Tynecastle last season and scored a memorable goal from his own half in a 3-1 win over Dundee United.
He only scored five goals for the Jam Tarts in total, although he was sidelined for much of the season due to injuries. Humphrys is still highly regarded by the Gorgie fans, and he is close friends with some of Steven Naismith’s squad members, including Australian midfielder Devlin.
Yesterday, Humphrys commented on X, formerly known as Twitter, that it was “good to see my boy @cammy_devlin.” Devlin also piqued the interest of Hearts fans by answering with a love and handshake emoji: “See you soon, brother.”
The post was swiftly shared by eagle-eyed Jambos fans, who believe Devlin may be hinting a return for the former Fulham, Southend United, and Rochdale striker.
One punter commented: “You know what to do, Agent Devlin…”Bring our boy home as soon as possible!! I mean no pressure @cammy_devlin, but Tynecastle now expects you to restore Humps to us!!!”
This excited fan exclaimed: “AND HE’S GORGIE’S 29” But this sceptical supporter wasn’t so convinced, adding: “You boys are on the wind up – fair play.”
