Breaking: Talented DT target set to join FSU after ‘amazing’ visit and camp experience
Recently offered DT target Trashawn Ruffin high on FSU after extended first visit and camp this past weekend
Cameron (N.C) North Duplin 2026 defensive tackle Trashawn Ruffin took his first visit to Florida State this weekend, as he was on campus for three straight days, and he concluded the trip with a standout performance at FSU’s Individual Camp on Sunday.
“That is amazing, man. When questioned about his weekend visit, Ruffin said, “It was amazing.” “The coaching is excellent.” The hospitality is fantastic. They’ve got a special piece of me.”
Ruffin had intended to attend a camp with FSU coaches Odell Haggins, John Papuchis, and Mike Norvell, where he could work out and receive in-person guidance from them. The 6-foot-3, 307-pounder described his camp experience as “really awesome,” and shared his opinions on the coaching he got throughout the day.
“I love the way they coach,” Ruffin remarked. “They coach hard, like they should. If you make a mistake, they will hold you accountable. It’s not nice stuff, man. They’re basically going to improve you every time.”
Being an out-of-state talent, he noted that the distance from home may have a minor impact on his final decision, but FSU is an obvious standout at this point.
“They’re up there, man,” Ruffin said when asked where the Noles stand in his early recruitment. “They came to see me sometime last month. Coach (Ryan) Bartow came down, talked to me about the opportunity, and we had a terrific time.”
Ruffin mentioned that he has a lot of love for Bartow as well.
Though he was visiting over the weekend, Ruffin mentioned that FSU was one among the teams seeking to get on the phone around midnight on June 15, when communication outside of visits was finally allowed between college coaching staffs and 2026 prospects.
The outstanding interior defender stated that he hopes to return for a game this season, if possible.
Ruffin has offers from South Carolina, NC State, and Florida State, but is currently unranked by 247Sports.com. Several programs, including Auburn, Michigan, North Carolina, and West Virginia, have recently shown significant interest.
