Close deal: Birmingham city closing deal for unhappy Burnley star

Birmingham City is considering a transfer for an out-of-favour player. Burnley player
Birmingham City is interested in signing Burnley goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell during the summer transfer window.

According to The Daily Mirror’s Live Transfer Blog (24/06,13:15), the Blues are among several prospective suitors for the 27-year-old.

Peacock-Farrell joined Burnley in the summer of 2019, after leaving Leeds United for a reported £2.5 million.

Since then, the goalkeeper has failed to establish himself at Turf Moor, making only a few games for the Clarets.
He also spent the 2021/22 season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday, and his most recent loan was with Danish side Aarhus.

Now it appears like he may be on the move again before the start of the 2024–25 season.

Birmingham City wants Burnley goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell
According to the most recent update, Birmingham City are interested in signing Peacock-Farrell this summer in order to expand their goalkeeping alternatives.

The Midlands club is understood to be one of several clubs monitoring Peacock-Farrell’s status as they ponder a move for him this summer.

The 27-year-old’s contract with Burnley has 12 months remaining, ensuring his future at Turf Moor until the conclusion of the season.

That, of course, means that the current transfer market may be their final opportunity to cash in on the goalkeeper.

In addition to his club career, Peacock-Farrell has 46 senior international caps for the Republic of Ireland.

Birmingham have already signed one goalkeeper this summer, with Ryan Allsop joining from Hull City as the club’s first addition of the summer transfer window.

Both the Blues and Burnley will be hoping to bounce back from relegation in the next season.

Birmingham were demoted from the Championship to League One on the final day of the previous season.

Burnley, meanwhile, will return to the Championship for the 2024/25 season after only one year in the Premier League.

Bailey Peacock-Farrell could provide excellent challenge for Birmingham City.
If Birmingham can complete the signing of Peacock-Farrell, it appears that the move will be beneficial.

While the Blues have already signed Allsop this summer, Neil Etheridge has been released, and John Ruddy appears to be on his way out after his contract expires.

As a result, it is likely that they will still need to find senior cover and competition for Allsop between the posts before the start of the next season.

The signing of Peacock-Farrell would offer them another veteran goalkeeper to rely on in the coming season, and his Football League experience may be beneficial.

Given that he is not in the final year of his contract at Turf Moor and has never been a regular starter for Burnley, he may be a cheap target for the Blues as well.

With that in mind, this seems like a deal worth pursuing for Birmingham before the window closes at the end of August.
