LSU transfer RHP Aiden Moffett commits to Texas.
Despite struggles with command, the hard-throwing pitcher still has a lot of potential.
Texas Longhorns head coach Jim Schlossnagle and pitching coach Max Weiner acquired another component to their 2025 bullpen with the commitment of former LSU Tigers right-hander Aiden Moffett on Saturday.
Moffett entered the NCAA transfer portal after the 2024 season and has two years of eligibility remaining.
Moffett, a 6’3, 221-pounder who threw 19 pitches in a single outing against Butler as a freshman, is a Perfect Game top-200 prospect in the 2022 recruiting class and the top-ranked right-handed pitcher in the state.
Moffett showed potential in the Northwoods League this summer, striking out 22 batters in 13.0 innings across 11 appearances, getting two saves, and limiting opponents to a.133 batting average.
As a sophomore, Moffett played a larger role in the LSU bullpen, going 0-1 with a 5.60 ERA in 16 appearances, striking out 21 in 17.2 innings, but also allowing 12 walks, four home runs, and three wild pitches.Moffett is known for his arm talent with a fastball that reaches 99 mph, making him the type of high-upside reliever that former head coach David Pierce simply could not or would not land over his last several seasons, instead settling for transfer portal additions who frequently had similar statistical profiles and worse.
