Medicals set: West Brom negotiations in advance stage for £5m star

West Brom discussions are starting as the £5 million transfer tug-of-war heats up.
Besiktas and Trabzonspor are both interested in a West Brom player, so a bidding battle might start shortly.

Okay Yokuşlu of West Bromwich Albion is apparently at the center of a Turkish transfer battle between Beşiktaş and Trabzonspor.

The defensive midfielder is expected to leave The Hawthorns this summer following an outstanding season in the Championship in which he missed only two games. Yokuşlu’s efforts at the base of midfield helped West Brom finish in the top six, which would have been extremely difficult otherwise.

It was reported last week that Beşiktaş had set meetings with Albion to address Yokuşlu, and the situation looks to have improved. However, Beşiktaş will face stiff competition from Trabzonspor, according to Sports Digitale.
Official negotiations with Yokuşlu’s representation are reportedly beginning, as Trabzonspor, one of the player’s former teams, attempts a dramatic takeover. Beşiktaş will need to respond quickly in what has become a transfer tug-of-war.

West Brom’s asking price is expected to be around £5 million, and the Baggies are unlikely to come in Yokuşlu’s way because the Turk only has 12 months left on his contract.

This is the last chance to get a good transfer fee, especially since a bidding battle could start.

Yokuşlu is not the only Albion player wanted in Turkey.
Cédric Kipré is another Baggie who has been linked with a Turkish club, with Trabzonspor reportedly holding negotiations. The Ivorian was one of West Brom’s best players last season, but he is yet to settle on a new contract.
Kipré is officially a free agent, since his contract with Albion terminated on June 30. Potential suitors may speak with the player directly without the approval of West Brom. It remains to be seen whether the central defender will stay at The Hawthorns.
