Report: Virginia Tech coach and staffs in tears as the lose three-star player

Three-star IMG Academy recruit, Major Preston, chose Ole Miss over Virginia Tech and two other colleges on Saturday night.
Over the previous month, Virginia Tech football coach Brent Pry has had a great deal of success recruiting the Class of 2025. The Hokies signed a number of notable in-state recruits, including four-star athlete Matthew Outten earlier this week.

On the defensive side of the ball, Virginia Tech has some big secondary commitments, and another recruit committed Saturday night.

Major Preston, a three-star cornerback from IMG Academy, has decided to attend Ole Miss after considering Florida, Colorado, Virginia Tech, and other options. It should not have come as a surprise that he committed to Lane Kiffin, considering that was where his Crystal Ball Prediction predicted him to land. He did have an official visit to Virginia Tech last month, but he planned to go to Florida or Colorado if he chose one of those institutions.
Preston told 247Sports about his Final Four, and it appears that Kiffin and Ole Miss won him over during his visit.

“It’s great. I saw a lot. I had the opportunity to meet with the school’s administrators. Everything was amazing there. The interaction with me and everyone else in the program is good.”

– Major Preston
Virginia Tech currently has commitments on the defensive side of the ball from safety Sheldon Robinson of Woodberry Forest, Va., cornerback Knahlij Harrell of Green Run, Va., linebacker Brett Clatterbaugh of Culpeper, Va., defensive lineman Christian Evans of Ashburn, Va., linebacker Noah Chambers, edge Zeke Chinwike of Virginia Beach, Va., and edge Sherrod Henderson.
