Announcement: Lamar Jackson Wants to Join new team

Kraft: Meek Mill Says Lamar Jackson Wants to Join the Patriots Amid Ravens Trade Request
Rapper Meek Mill may be a Philadelphia Eagles fan, but he might have done the New England Patriots a favor by informing them that one of the league’s top quarterbacks was interested in joining their team.\

According to Ben Volin of the Boston Globe, Patriots owner Robert Kraft revealed Meek Mill texted him about Lamar Jackson’s interest in going to New England.

“That’s Bill [Belichick’s] decision,” Kraft replied.

Jackson made headlines Monday when he stated that he sought a trade from the Baltimore Ravens on March 2 because the team “has not been interested in meeting my value,” which means he “had to make a business decision that was best for my family and I.”

This summer, Baltimore slapped the non-exclusive franchise tag on Jackson, which means he can negotiate with other teams but the Ravens have the right to match any offer he receives. They will receive two first-round draft picks in exchange if they do not match the offers.

After rotating Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe during a losing season in 2022, New England may have some long-term quarterback concerns, and Jackson, the 2019 MVP who can devastate opposing defenses with both his arm and legs, could be an excellent alternative.

Meek Mill has at least raised the possibility on the team’s radar.
