Rams acquire offensive lineman Conor McDermott, Matt Kaskey, and Alec Lindstrom while waiving tight end Neal Johnson and defensive back Kenny Logan Jr.
Thousand Oaks, California – With a couple offensive lineman recovering from injuries sustained during training camp, the Rams added depth to the position group on Tuesday by signing offensive linemen Conor McDermott and Matt Kaskey.
Los Angeles has also dismissed tight end Neal Johnson and defensive back Kenny Logan Jr.
McDermott, 31, began his career with the Bills, spending his first two seasons in 2017 and 2018. In 2019, he joined the Jets after being claimed off waivers midway through the season, and he remained with them until being traded to the Patriots during Week 11 of the 2022 season.
He most recently played for the Patriots, starting five out of six games in 2023. He has appeared in 55 NFL games, including 17 starts, including two at right guard, seven at left tackle, seven at right tackle, and one as a tackle-eligible tight end.
McDermott first entered the NFL as a sixth-round draft choice by the Patriots out of UCLA in 2017.
Kaskey, 27, most recently competed in the UFL, but for the Birmingham Stallions. He first entered the NFL as an undrafted free agency signee by the Rams out of Dartmouth in 2019. Waived by the Rams during their final roster cuts in 2019.
He joined the Panthers in late September of that year and spent the bulk of the 2019-21 season on Carolina’s practice squad. Following his initial stint with the Stallions in 2022, he signed with the Chargers in early August 2023 until being dismissed a few weeks later that year.
The signings coincide with the week-to-week statuses of Alaric Jackson (ankle), Rob Havenstein (ankle), and Jonah Jackson (shoulder).
Lindstrom, 26, most recently played for the United Football League (UFL)’s Memphis Showboats this spring. In 2022, he was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Dallas Cowboys after graduating from Boston College
