It was really a significant chance for Briscoe to join a renowned NASCAR team, and he just couldn’t resist the offer. However, it appears that WBR President Jon Wood isn’t over the fact that the driver shunned the offer to join the Toyota team.
Furthermore, he was skeptical of Briscoe’s claim that JGR did not ask him to bring any sponsorship money with him.
This seems that Wood Brother Racing imposed stipulations before signing him. However, the prospective JGR driver addressed the issue openly in a Reddit discussion.
Financial support and sponsorship money play an important part in drivers moving teams. JGR was unsure about making a play for Briscoe, anticipating Bass Pro Shops would break connections with the team following MTJ’s departure.
