“Not me,”: Kyle Busch reacts after huge controversy about fallout from Parker Retzlaff drama at Daytona

Thanks to Parker Retzlaff, Kyle Busch lost the race to Harrison Burton at Daytona last week, causing a major uproar. For a week now, the NASCAR community has been arguing over who was at fault.

For Beard Motorsports, Parker Retzlaff was operating the No. 62 vehicle. A partnership exists between that team and Richard Childress Racing. Many believed that Retzlaff chose to slot up behind Harrison Burton rather than Kyle Busch at the last restart, which was an incorrect choice.

The optics generally present a worse picture than the actual events. A Ford was defeated by a Chevy. How does Busch feel about it, though?

As per Kelly Crandall of RACER.com, Rowdy appears to harbor no animosity towards the 21-year-old racer.

Regarding a possible apology, Busch remarked, “Not me, but I don’t know what business relationships there are behind the scenes.”

Retzlaff was not present in the Chevy key partner meeting before to the race, Kyle Busch further clarified. Therefore, in a situation similar to the one that occurred last week, he would be at a loss for what to do. Should the rest of us be content with it if Busch is?

At Daytona, Kyle Busch needed to triumph. He is unable to enter the NASCAR Playoffs. That means that last week, he had the most to lose and the most to be angry about.

Busch, in my opinion, is aware of what it’s like for a young racer to be presented with an opportunity similar to Retzlaff’s. Even though it didn’t seem right at the time, what was he meant to do? Give up P4 to take a third row back seat behind Busch and Christopher Bell?

Parker Retzlaff ran with the intention of winning, and Kyle Busch seemed to recognize that.

Kyle Busch has to worry about Darlington

Kyle Busch is a two-time champion, so this season is a major letdown. His five DNFs in a span of seven races earlier in the season didn’t help. Busch remains 16th overall in points even then, but those outside winners have eliminated him from contention.

For Busch, Darlington is not the ideal track. When all other options are exhausted and you NEED to win, this track isn’t the best. However, the No. 8 team has been dealt that hand this season, and they have just enough cash to play one more hand and the small blind.

In the Cup Series, Richard Childress Racing has not had a very successful year. That cannot be disputed. Austin Dillon did win a race, but because of his careless driving that allowed him to win, his playoff status was revoked.

Thus, how can you help? With one more regular season race remaining, Kyle Busch needs to win to qualify for the playoffs. Though it seems a bit late, Rowdy could surprise everyone on
