Announcement: Vikings announce the signing of Dallas Cowboys $160 Million QB to Replace Sam Darnold

Vikings Set to Make Run for $160 Million QB to Replace Sam Darnold.

Nothing has gone quite as planned for the Minnesota Vikings’ quarterback this offseason, which might pave the way for a game-changing move in less than seven months. That approach would be to sign Dallas Cowboys Pro Bowler Dak Prescott to a large multiyear contract, which owner Jerry Jones is hesitant to pay.

If Prescott becomes a free agent after this season, he will have numerous suitors throughout the league, and fans should fully expect the Vikings to be one of them unless something miraculous happens in Minnesota over the next 18 weeks.

Sam Darnold is the Vikings’ starter on a one-year deal, and this is likely his final chance to show to the NFL that he is, in fact, a starting quarterback. Darnold was the third overall pick in the 2018 draft and has been a total bust in the six years thereafter. On Monday, September 2, Seth Walder of ESPN projected that Darnold would have the finest year of his playing career with the weapons he has around him in Minnesota, but that it will not be enough to propel the Vikings to the top or retain Darnold in the starting lineup in 2025.
