Announcement: Dragons closing in on deal to sign outside back to long-term contract
He is off-contract at the end of the year.
The St George Illawarra Dragons reportedly remain in contract talks with young outside back Max Feagai.
The New Zealand-born winger and centre has played ten first-grade games this season, bringing his career total to 21 in the NRL.
Feagai, a reserve grader who came through the Dragons’ pathways, has been a virtually regular member of the Dragons’ squad since Round 13 when he came in to play the Penrith Panthers, while both Jack Bird and Moses Suli were sidelined.
Max was expected to re-sign with brother Matthew Feagai, who signed an agreement to stay with the joint venture until the end of the 2026 NRL season.
News Corp are reporting however that Max remains in discussions with the Dragons over his long-term future, with the potential for a deal to be signed in the coming weeks.
The Dragons are pursuing Corey Horsburgh, Daniel Saifiti, and Reagan Campbell-Gillard to fill a roster place. They have previously pursued Stefano Utoikamanu and Addin Fonua-Blake.
The second Feagai brother, along with Tom Eisenhuth, Jesse Marscke, Ben Murdoch-Masila, and Alec Tuitavake, may still be available for re-signing with the club.
Eisenhuth is expected to resign, Murdoch-Masila is likely to depart, and the other duo’s future remains uncertain.
The Dragons have already signed Valentine Holmes to add to their backline for 2025, but are now likely to lose Jack Bird after he sought a release, with the Wests Tigers the most likely to grab the utility’ services.
