Breaking News: Suspect fatally shot at Yellowstone National Park after allegedly making threats

A Yellowstone law enforcement park ranger was also injured.

An armed man accused of making threats in Yellowstone National Park was killed in a gunfight with rangers, according to the National Park Service.

The incident also injured a Yellowstone law enforcement ranger, according to the National Park Service.

The “significant law enforcement incident” occurred overnight into morning at Canyon Village in the middle area of Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, according to the National Park Service.

“Rangers responded to a report of an individual with a firearm who was making threats,” NPS said in a press release. “When rangers contacted the individual there was an exchange of gunfire between the subject and law enforcement rangers.”

The name of the deceased suspect will not be published at this time.

The ranger injured in the incident is in stable condition and is being treated at a local hospital, according to the National Park Service.

The National Park Service stated that there are no active threats to the public.

The FBI is leading the investigation into the event, with assistance from NPS Special Agents.

The area surrounding the Canyon Lodge complex remains blocked owing to the continuing inquiry.

Authorities stated that no other information will be shared at this time.
