Micah Parsons injury update: Cowboys standout suffers high-ankle sprain; unclear timeframe for return, according to reports.
The Dallas Cowboys defense has had a terrible couple of weeks, getting pounded on the ground in home defeats to the New Orleans Saints (44-19) and the Baltimore Ravens (28-25).
Micah Parsons, their three-time All-Pro edge rusher, is now injured. During the Cowboys’ 20-15 win over the New York Giants on “Thursday Night Football,” he sustained a lower left leg injury while diving to intercept a pass intended for wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson. He exited the game on a cart.
The Cowboys’ standout defense had an MRI on Friday to establish the severity of his ankle injury, and NFL Media subsequently reported that he had a high-ankle sprain.
After the game, Parsons gave a hopeful update on his injuries, assuring teammate Dak Prescott, “I’ll be fine,” according to The Athletic. However, Parsons was photographed walking awkwardly on Friday morning upon the team’s return to Dallas, even before the MRI findings were released.
That was not Parsons’ first injury on Thursday. He attempted to tackle Robinson on a 5-yard gain in the first half, but collided with teammate Eric Kendricks, who made the tackle.
The Prime Video feed showed Parsons entering the blue medical tent to be assessed for a concussion. Parsons’ future status is unknown and will be updated as more information becomes available, but the Cowboys will face the Steelers in Week 5 and the Lions in Week 6 before enjoying a bye in Week 7. If he is forced to miss time, it appears that he will just be held out during the bye week.
