Breaking: Ravens Closing In On Deal To Sign $28 Million WR

The Ravens are among several teams showing strong interest in the dynamic wideout being called Deebo Samuels 2.0.

The Baltimore Ravens are dedicated to surrounding the two-time league MVP with skilled pass catchers and reassembling the offensive line after acknowledging their shortcomings in providing star quarterback Lamar Jackson with the best necessary weapons in the passing game at wide receiver during the first five years of his career.

Malachi Corley, a former Western Kentucky star receiver, is a candidate to watch who they might draft early in the 2024 NFL Draft come late April. According to an NFL Network report from Mike Garafolo on Tuesday, the eight clubs scheduled to host the former Hilltopper for a top-30 pre-draft visit include the Ravens. The former Hilltopper drew a sizable audience on Monday for his Pro Day.

Executive Director Jim Nagy of Reese’ Senior Bowl said that 31 teams sent scouts to Bowling Green, Kentucky. Greg Lewis, the wide receivers coach for the Ravens, was one of nine assistants from various teams that traveled to Bowling Green, Kentucky, to serve in the same capacity.

Despite facing “pretty strong” wind during one of the NFL Scouting Combine’s on-field activities, Corley was unable to take part in them.

Corley, a spectacular run-after-the-catch player, is a formidable ball carrier who is frequently likened to wide receiver Deebo Samuel of the San Francisco 49ers. Corley recorded back-to-back seasons of over 900 receiving yards and 11 receiving touchdowns in his final two years of college.

Since Corley was chosen by the defensive backs he faced to be the Senior Bowl North squad Wide Receiver Practice Player of the Week, Nagy thinks Corley’s profile has been rising rapidly.

There are other media evaluators who have a thing for Corley besides the longtime former NFL scout. Former Ravens wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. gave Corley the formal go-ahead in February, calling him his “steal of the NFL Draft.”

Before the Ravens selected Zay Flowers at No. 22 overall in the first round of the NFL last year, Flowers was Smith’s preferred wide receiver. Flowers was a standout at Boston College.

According to projections, Corley will be selected in the second round and possibly even in the early third, which means the Ravens might take him at No. 62 overall in the bottom of the second round. He would be a great fit for offensive coordinator Todd Monken’s scheme, which places a strong emphasis on delivering the ball to playmakers in space.
