Breaking: Panthers Emerge Suitors To Sign $21.8 Million Star Receiver
Despite getting a Pro Bowl-caliber pass catcher through trade and adopting a franchise tag, the Carolina Panthers are still looking for another significant wide receiver.
Following Stefon Diggs’ departure, Bleacher Report’s Adam Wells highlighted potential suitors for other notable receivers, including Cincinnati’s Tee Higgins and free agency Odell Beckham Jr. Wells felt that Higgins may be a nice fit for the Panthers.
“Adding Higgins would significantly help the Panthers receiver room. They’d have a true No. 1 on the outside who could make plays long down the field or in traffic. Even if the Panthers had to surrender the No. 33 pick, their first in the 2024 draft, they must surround Young with as much immediate-impact talent as possible to establish whether he is the quarterback they thought he was when they took him with the top pick last year.”
If the Panthers pursue such a transaction, it would need to be completed in the coming weeks.
Carolina currently holds the 33rd and 39th overall selections in the upcoming 2024 NFL draft. These options could excite the Bengals’ interest, as they designated Higgins with the franchise tag in February.
However, the Panthers must decide whether to choose a wide receiver with one of their picks and benefit from a rookie contract, or to acquire and instantly compensate Higgins, who is 25 years old.
Given the current situation, the Carolina Panthers must take bold and decisive steps to place themselves for postseason contention. Adding Higgins to the offensive arsenal would be a huge step toward postseason success.
