The New Orleans Saints should recruit veteran wide receiver Tyler Boyd during quiet free agency.
The New Orleans Saints presently have little more than $8 million in cap space. That isn’t a large sum, but it may be enough to add another offensive star before or after the 2024 NFL draft.
Tyler Boyd, a former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver, should be a target for the Saints given his sluggish market.
Boyd, who stands 6’2 and weighs 205 pounds, is the type of receiver the Saints need on their roster. They need bodies in general, but a larger target to complement Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed would make a lot of sense.
Boyd meets the description and is only 29 years old.
The Saints signed Cedrick III earlier in free agency, but his influence on the offense remains uncertain. He fits the concept, but he struggled at times while with the Miami Dolphins in previous years.
Getting WR3 productivity from either Boyd or Wilson would elevate the Saints’ passing offense to the next level. Not to mention that the Saints now control only one pick on Day 2 of the draft. It’s difficult to imagine them obtaining an immediate impact wideout until they draft one in the top 45 picks.
Boyd has 6,000 receiving yards and 31 touchdowns on 513 receptions during his eight-year career with the Bengals.
For much of that period, he was their WR2 or WR3, behind some of the best receiving talents.
