Talks On: Wolves verbally agree deal to sign £5k-p/w “monster” goalscorer who would cost less than Broja
Gary O’Neil may have finally found the answer to his striker issues.
Wolves could be set to finally address their longstanding striker issues this summer, after making an enquiry about a goalscoring phenom.
O’Neil misses out on Broja
Gary O’Neil, the manager of Wolves, has done a fantastic job leading his team into the calm waters of Premier League midtable this season and keeping them far from a relegation struggle. However, O’Neil’s team has consistently struggled with injuries, to the point that rookie striker Leon Chiwome was elevated from the PL2 to start twice.

O’Neil called for a striker to be signed in the January transfer window, but financial fair play issues meant that they couldn’t get a deal over the line, with Chelsea attacker Armando Broja the man that they had set their sights on. “Finances are an issue. I was speaking to Chelsea about Armando Broja for a lot of the day. We couldn’t afford to do it financially,” O’Neil explained. “We weren’t able to go to the places others were. And that’s the position. It’s the position the club said they were in when they spoke to me. I was hopeful that clearing some wages would enable me to act. It turns out that wages weren’t a problem, the fees were.” Eventually Broja moved to Fulham, where he has been starved of game time, and it has since emerged that Chelsea are looking to sell him this summer. But, having demanded a massive £50m for him in January, their stance is unlikely to have softened much and he would still be an expensive addition. Now, Wolves may have found a man available for much less.
Wolves enquire for goalscoring machine
This is provided by Mohamed Amoura of Union Saint-Gilloise, a striker who has been having a lot of fun scoring goals in Belgium’s top division this year. In all tournaments thus far, the Algerian shooter has tallied 23 goals and seven assists, with 18 of those goals coming in the Pro League.
The goal-scoring phenomenon was praised by teammate Alessio Castro-Montes, who called him “a monster in front of goal”.
While his speed is undoubtedly an asset, his effectiveness is what sets him apart. Despite not even getting many playing minutes, he is a true beast in front of goal. His impact is evident in a match like this one.
The Old Gold would probably have to overcome fierce competition to sign him, as Liverpool is rumored to be interested in signing him along with Tottenham and Arsenal.
If they manage to bring him in, though, it would help O’Neil’s offensive problems from this season and position them for a possible run at European football the following season.
