Talks On: Crystal Palace closing in on deal with relegation-threatened club to sign 26-year-old striker
Crystal Palace will reportedly look to poach 26-year-old English striker Elijah Adebayo from Luton Town in the summer transfer window.
Crystal Palace is reportedly interested in Elijah Adebayo, according to a report from Give Me Sport. In the event that Luton Town is relegated from the Premier League at the conclusion of the 2023–2024 season, the 26-year-old striker may depart the team during the summer transfer window. Bournemouth is among the several teams eager to sign the Luton attacker.
Elijah Adebayo and his solid spell with Luton Town
When Elijah Adebayo joined Luton Town in February 2021, he was a top-notch acquisition from Fulham. He was raised in the capital city of London, where he was born and raised, first at Fulham and then at West London club’s youth division.
The Englishman, however, was unable to make a name for himself in Fulham’s first team and had to make several loan moves before making a permanent move to Luton Town. With the exception of his first full season, the 26-year-old has never been particularly effective in the closing third, but he has had a strong 2023–24 campaign.
Adebayo has found the back of the net ten times in 25 Premier League appearances, forming a top-notch strike partnership with Carlton Morris. However, the London native faces an uncertain future at Luton Town amid the Hatters’ struggles to retain their Premier League status. Such a situation has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of Crystal Palace.
A return to London on the horizon?
It makes sense that Elijah Adebayo would pique Crystal Palace’s interest. The South London team is probably going to search the summer transfer window for a striker. Odsonne Edouard hasn’t left his mark, despite Jean-Philippe Mateta’s outstanding play in recent weeks.
Therefore, Crystal Palace needs to spend money on a productive striker, and Adebayo seems like a good option. The Eagles are also considering a number of other prospects, among them Tammy Abraham.Although Eddie Nketiah is an additional option for Crystal Palace, the attacker from Luton Town is a compelling substitute.
The 26-year-old striker will likely leave Luton Town if they cannot avoid relegation, even though Rob Edwards wants him to stay at Kenilworth Road, irrespective of the Hatters’ fate this term. It will be interesting to see if the Englishman joins Crystal Palace in the summer transfer window.
