Breaking: Raiders Closing In On Deal To Sign $25.4 Million Big-Game Experience RB
The Las Vegas Raiders offensive finds itself at a crossroads as the 2024 NFL season approaches.
Gardner Minshew is the expected Week 1 starter after failing to draft a quarterback in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, managing an offense that lacks genuinely elite firepower with the exception of All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams.
Zamir White is expected to start the season as the team’s leading running back, but if the Raiders are serious about competing with the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West, this could be a position worth boosting on the trade market this summer.
Las Vegas Raiders Should Trade for Miles Sanders
Miles Sanders, a former Philadelphia Eagles second-round draft pick and current Carolina Panthers running back, could be a great fit for the Raiders system.
Sanders and the Panthers agreed to a four-year, $25.4 million contract after the 2022 season, but Carolina may already be attempting to trade the 27-year-old before of the 2024 season.
Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport compiled a list of players that each NFL team should consider trading, including Sanders as the Panthers’ choice.
“We are talking about a player who in 2022 posted the first 1,000-yard season by an Eagles running back,” Davenport writes for B/R. Before last season, Sanders has never averaged less than 4.6 yards per rush in a season.
“That production and experience may appeal to teams that lack depth in the backfield and/or sustain an injury in the backfield during training camp. And, really, a rebuilding Panthers club could use more draft capital than a $6 million running back who sits on the sideline.
Through his first 73 career games, Sanders has logged 868 carries for 4,140 yards and 21 touchdowns, while averaging 4.8 yards per carry, and has added 216 receptions for 1,096 yards and three more scores.
Sanders would be a fascinating fit because of his big-game experience, and the fact that he’s an equally impactful threat as a runner as he is a receiver out of the backfield.
