Breaking: Raiders Set To Go ‘All in’ On A Deal To Sign $60 Million 3-Time Pro Bowl QB

The Las Vegas Raiders struggled to find a quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft and may face similar challenges in 2025. The team has much too much talent to finish with a high enough pick to select a premier QB prospect.

If the Raiders perform well this season, their ceiling should be limited due to quarterback play. The team’s condition could appeal to an experienced quarterback looking for a change of scenery.If Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott does not receive an extension, he will be eligible for free agency next offseason.

Maurice Moton of Bleacher Report identified five clubs that should “go all in” on Prescott, including the Raiders.

“Among the five teams that should monitor Dak Prescott’s situation, the Las Vegas Raiders are the only squad that will have a true quarterback competition at training camp, which underscores why they need to approach the 2025 quarterback market with urgency,” Moton wrote in his column on June 13.

“This offseason, the Raiders signed journeyman signal-caller Gardner Minshew to compete against second-year pro Aidan O’Connell for the starting job.”

Prescott is only 30 and led the NFL in passing touchdowns last season with 36. He’d be a big upgrade at quarterback for the Raiders if they were able to agree to a deal.

Price for Dak Prescott Likely Going Up

The most pressing concern with Prescott’s possible signing is money. He’s set to sign a record-breaking contract, and the price could only rise.According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence has signed a new contract worth $55 million per year, tying him with Joe Burrow as the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL.

If Prescott enters the open market, he may be looking at a contract worth closer to $60 million per year. Prescott has a lot of leverage because the Cowboys can’t use the franchise tag on him, which will just drive up his price. The Raiders aren’t the only club interested in him, so a bidding battle is possible.

Is Dak Prescott the Right Fit for the Las Vegas Raiders?

The Raiders currently have two quarterbacks on their roster: Gardner Minshew and Aidan O’Connell, who have combined for 27 touchdown passes in 23 starts. As previously said, Prescott completed 36 touchdown touchdowns in 17 starts.

He’d be a significant upgrade over what the Raiders currently have and could be enough to help transform the team into a consistent postseason contender. However, paying $60 million for a quarterback who is 2-5 in the playoffs is a significant risk. Prescott is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, but despite the Cowboys’ abundance of offensive and defensive talent, he has yet to win a postseason game.

He has a career passer rating of 99.0 in the regular season but it drops to 91.8 in the playoffs. The Raiders have been to the playoffs just twice since 2002 so having a quarterback who can simply get them there might be enough to pay him whatever he wants.
