Report: Coventry city and Hull city lead race to sign most wanted Championship attacker

According to sources, Coventry City and Hull City are both interested in signing Josh Windass.
Coventry City and Hull City are leading the race to capture Sheffield Wednesday’s Josh Windass on a free transfer this summer, according to Football Insider sources.

Windass is out of contract with the Owls at the end of this month, and no agreement has been reached for him to stay at Hillsborough next season.
Hull and Coventry are both looking to improve their offensive options this summer and are going to make an offer for the 30-year-old in the coming weeks.
In 25 appearances, the attacker scored six goals and provided two assists, allowing Wednesday to maintain their Championship status for another year.

Josh Windass might make the summer switch to Coventry City.
Windass has been a notable player for the Owls since signing from Wigan Athletic in 2020.

During that period, the forward, who can play in a number of attacking positions, has scored 40 goals and provided 17 assists in 135 games.

Throughout his career, the Hull native has played 129 games in the second tier, including two years with Scottish giants Rangers.

Coventry and Hull have expressed an interest in signing Windass, whose contract with the Owls expires later this month.

He is poised to quit the Sheffield club in the next weeks, if no unforeseen changes occur regarding his future.

Wednesday finished the season three points above the Championship relegation zone, having secured their survival on the last day of the season.

However, both Coventry and Hull failed to finish in the play-off positions.
