Is JOSH ALLEN About to Overtake Patrick Mahomes in the NFL Quarterback Rankings? The Surprising Rise of the Bills Star!

Josh Allen is closing in on the top spot.

Every year, ESPN surveys executives, scouts, and coaches to produce an annual ranking of the NFL’s best quarterbacks. And each year, the Buffalo Bills star climbs higher on the list.

In the latest rankings released Monday, Allen is ranked No. 2.

The only quarterback ahead of him? Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Over time, Allen and Mahomes have developed one of the league’s most notable rivalries, though Bills fans would love a few more postseason wins against the Chiefs. So far, Buffalo has dominated the regular season, while Kansas City has been more successful in the playoffs.

However, Allen’s ongoing growth has fueled hope among Bills supporters that he might finally take down the mighty Mahomes.

“He’s done everything,” an NFC personnel executive told ESPN. “He’s passed every test, makes fewer mistakes, and takes good care of the ball. The only thing left is to win the championship.”

ESPN notes that Mahomes’ hold on the top spot has weakened over the past year, and things aren’t expected to get any easier.

With Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson occupying the next two spots, the AFC’s quarterback talent looks set to be strong for years.

“Other guys played great,” said an NFC executive who ranked Mahomes fourth. “He took a bit of a step back based on recent seasons. I don’t think that will last.”

The rivalry between Allen and Mahomes isn’t over yet.

And if the Bills manage to beat the Chiefs this January, Allen might just have one last challenge to overcome before next year’s rankings are released.
