Sunday’s Chicago Sky-Indiana Fever game is the most expensive WNBA game in history, with an average purchase price of $271, 207% higher than the Sky’s home average buy price of $88.
While this is the third meeting between these two teams this season, interest in seeing Clark and Reese face off seemed to have grown as the season progressed. TickPick reports that the “get-in” ticket for this Sunday’s game is $249, which is 336% higher than the “get-in” price for their previous battle in Indianapolis on June 16th ($57). The most costly ticket available costs $9,131.
Compared to other Chicago sports, the Sky-Fever game is 131% more expensive than the Chicago Bulls’ home average purchase price last season ($117) and 34% more expensive than the average purchase price of a Chicago Bears home game this season ($201).
Despite the game’s popularity, Clark attempts to downplay its significance in the big scheme of things.
“I’m very sure only you (the media) see this as a competition. We see it as nothing more than a basketball game. That’s how it is. “If it helps advance the game, absolutely.”
Regardless of what Clark says, people will tune in because they see Reese and Sky as her competitors.
