Report: NASCAR top driver agree to retire if he lose next race

Chase Briscoe: ‘My career is basically done’ if I don’t win at Joe Gibbs Racing
The much-anticipated addition of Chase Briscoe to the Joe Gibbs Racing squad in the No. 19 car is officially official, and the stakes are high for the new JGR driver.

He recognizes it. So does his squad. Briscoe set it out clearly during his inaugural press tour.

“If I don’t win, then the way I look at it is as my career is probably over, because if I can’t perform at this caliber of a race team, then why would any other owner take a chance on me?” Briscoe stated.

Briscoe will undoubtedly have the opportunity to demonstrate his abilities as an elite driver now that he is part of a top-tier squad. He’s already demonstrated quite a bit in his early career with Stewart-Haas Racing.

He was promoted to the Cup Series in 2021, taking over Clint Bowyer’s No. 14 Mustang.

Since then, Briscoe has one win (in 2022 at Phoenix), 12 top-five finishes, and 27 top-10 finishes. He is now right on the playoff cut line for 2024, trailing Joey Logano’s 430 points (just inside the cut line) by 405 points. Bubba Wallace is also somewhere in the middle, with 417 points.

Needless to say, Briscoe will have a nervous conclusion to the season, especially given that he will be joining a new squad in the spring.
The good news for Briscoe is that he had options before joining Joe Gibbs Racing following SHR’s closure. He shared one of them this week.

Chase Briscoe entertained the Penske offer.
Chase Briscoe spoke about his experience at Joe Gibbs Racing at a press conference on Tuesday. The NASCAR Cup Series driver said on Monday night that he was in talks with Woods Brothers Racing and Team Penske after meeting with Joe Gibbs Racing management earlier in the day.

Briscoe continued to speak with Penske on Tuesday, and Gibbs submitted a contract that night.
