Breaking: After Jerry Yates, Derby County are now closing in on deal to sign 23-year-old attacker

Derby County have now been linked with a summer transfer move for this Hull City player.

Derby County has signed Kayden Jackson on a two-year free transfer agreement.

He is the second player to join Pride Park in a week, following midfielder Ben Osborn who arrived on a free transfer.

After a slow start in the summer transfer season, Paul Warne’s side appears to be exploding into life, with numerous new names attached.

The Rams are reportedly pursuing a loan deal for Swansea City striker Jerry Yates, as well as a contract for last season’s loan hero Ebou Adams.

There’s also links to 22-year-old midfielder Kenzo Goudmijn who plays for Excelsior in the Dutch second tier.

Now though, there’s a new name on the Rams’ transfer radar; Hull City’s Ryan Longman.

Derby County eyeing Hull City man Ryan Longman

Ryan Longman, 23, is expected to leave Hull City this summer after moving to the MKM Stadium from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2021.

Longman, a left winger for the Tigers, contributed six goals and five assists in 72 Championship matches.

Longman played 35 Championship games on loan for Millwall last season, scoring three goals and assisting three others.

According to recent reports, League One aspirants Birmingham City and Wrexham are planning bold approaches for the Englishman.

Now though, journalist Darren Witcoop has revealed on X that Derby County are also keeping tabs on Longman’s situation at Hull City.

Why Derby County might struggle to sign Ryan Longman at Hull City

Warne and Derby County could surely improve the left-wing position, since Tom Barkhuizen is the club’s sole natural left winger.

However, with Birmingham City and Wrexham also keen and looking to invest money this summer, Derby County could face an expensive pursuit.

Longman hasn’t exactly lit up the Championship in recent seasons, but he may provide Derby with much-needed second-tier experience while being a youthful player.

Derby County’s transfer market resources will be limited this summer, and they must be used wisely.

Whilst a move for Longman would add a talented Championship player to their ranks, and bolster a depleted left-wing position, it looks like Warne might prefer to spend his money elsewhere on the pitch, mainly in middle of defence and midfield.
