Report: Bengals coach in tears as star player agree deal to join saint

The Saints have announced a deal with former Bengals wide receiver Stanley Morgan.
Here’s another seasoned addition to the New Orleans Saints receiving corps. On Friday, the team struck a deal with former Cincinnati Bengals wideout Stanley Morgan, a New Orleans native who attended St. Augustine High School. He played collegiate football at Nebraska before making his professional debut with Cincinnati. He stands 6 feet 1 and weighs 205 pounds.

Morgan, 27, spent the first five years of his career with the Bengals as a backup to players like Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, receiving only 15 targets in 51 games (catching five of them for 29 yards). He has, however, played a vital role on Cincinnati’s special teams, covering punts and kickoffs for 909 snaps.

So expect Morgan to compete for a spot on special teams. The Saints have gained two seasoned receivers in as many days after acquiring Cedrick Wilson Jr. from the Miami Dolphins, but their total is still less than half of what they had entering training camp last season. There are still seven or eight jobs available, so expect more additions.
