Sad news: Bengals coach and staff all in tears as top star announce retirement due to heart disease

Former Cincinnati Bengals first-round pick Billy Price announces retirement due to a medical condition.
The Bengals selected Price with the 21st overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. Hopefully, he will continue to be healthy after retirement!
CINCINNATI — Former Bengals first-round selection Billy Price announced his retirement Saturday morning.

Price spent the first three seasons of his career with Cincinnati before being traded to the Giants prior to the 2021 season. He also played with the Cardinals, Cowboys, Raiders, and Saints.
The 29-year-old has decided to retire due to medical issues. The Bengals selected him with the 21st overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

“In the blink of an eye, everything can be taken away,” Price posted on Instagram. “On April 24th, I underwent emergency pulmonary embolism surgery to remove a saddle clot that had entered both of my lungs. As a healthy 29-year-old, an unprovoked pulmonary embolism with no other medical explanation is alarming. I am genuinely grateful to be alive now. Unfortunately, I will be retiring from the NFL since the chance of an internal bleed while taking blood thinners is extremely high.”

It’s bad that he had to retire from football, but it’s amazing that he’s well after going through such a scary scenario this summer. Check out his whole retirement announcement below.
