Hello, Hoynsie: What was the cause of death for Andres Melendez, a 20-year-old minor league catcher for the Cleveland Guardians who died in December? — Stacey Harvey of Akron.
Hello, Stacey: According to a Guardians statement, Melendez died suddenly on December 16 in Miami. The Miami-Dade Medical Examiner concluded Melendez died of natural causes brought on by various organ failures. No autopsy was performed.

Last season at Class A Lynchburg, Melendez hit 247 (59-for-239) with eight homers 46 RBI and a 798 OPS Melendez spent the 2018 and 2019 seasons with Milwaukee. Cleveland acquired him on November 20, 2019, for infielder Mark Mathias.
Following Melendez’s death, the Guardians issued the following statement: Andrés is remembered by his teammates and friends as a pleasant, respectful, and considerate young guy with a wonderful smile who made a significant influence on others. He’ll be terribly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, loved ones, teammates, and everyone who knew him.

Hi, David: That covers a lot of terrain, and it depends on your perspective on certain trades.
I’d have to say the finest deal was obtaining Andrew Miller from the Yankees on July 31, 2016 since the end result was an AL pennant and a trip to the World Series. But receiving an unknown Corey Kluber in a three-team trade on July 31, 2010, wasn’t awful.
