Mets acquire Ryne Stanek in a deal with Mariners to strengthen the struggling bullpen.
Four days before the trade deadline, David Stearns made a move to shore up the Mets’ razor-thin bullpen.
According to Jon Heyman of The Post, the team’s general manager traded with the Mariners for right-handed reliever Ryne Stanek.
In exchange, the Mets transferred outfield prospect Rhylan Thomas, who is ranked No. 30 in the MLB pipeline, to Seattle.
The Mets are in need of quality bullpen relievers, especially with Dedniel Nunez placed on the 15-day injured list on Friday.
The hard thrower Stanek has a 4.38 ERA for the Mariners, with 44 strikeouts in 39 innings.
