Announcement: 4-star elite WR and key Coach Billy target finalize his commitment date to join Gators
One of Florida’s targets at the WR position has finalized his commitment date
Four-star wide receiver Naeshaun Montgomery of Miami (Fla.) Central told Swamp247 that he was targeting August 25th as his commitment date when he was last interviewed. That date to declare his college commitment is already fixed in stone, not long after that chat.
Montgomery intends to travel to Gainesville this coming weekend ahead of his scheduled commitment date in order to attend the coaching staff’s ‘Grill in the Ville’ recruiting picnic. Since he made his official visit in early June, this will be his first return.
Montgomery told Swamp247 earlier this month, “I really want to get back and chill with the coaches and the players again.” “Just get back and build more of a bond with those players and coaches, so that if I do end up going to Florida, the bonds are already there, and strong.”
In addition to his scheduled visit on July 27, Montgomery may speak this week twice, with July 25 being the possible stop. Montgomery’s primary incentive would be to spend time with the club during one of their summer OTA practices.
“I haven’t seen them do a practice like that yet, but I intended to go there last month to see one of their summer workout sessions. I wasn’t able to do so. After the ‘Dead Period’ ends this month, I want to try to do that. I might visit there for the day to see one of those on the 25th. Right now, it’s still kind of a maybe, but I’m trying to see if I can pull it off. If I visit that day, return home, and then attend the barbecue again. Alternatively, if I visit on one of those days and remain till the barbecue.”
Florida and Penn State have been the two schools associated with him out of his six finalists. The Gators are thought to have recruited him the hardest out of those two teams. For the 6-foot-1, 165-pound player, Gainesville wide receivers coach Billy Gonzales has been a longtime contact, but head coach Billy Napier has also played a significant role. Montgomery has even noticed Napier stepping up his efforts even more in the past month.
“Me and Coach Napier have been talking every day. Like every day. Our bond is really strong. I’ve always talked with Coach Napier, that isn’t really new. It’s new how much more we’ve been talking though. For about the last month I would say, he’s been in touch every day. This month really pushed it up a notch. He just tells me how I am a priority for them, and he definitely wants me to be a Gator. He thinks I can get better starting my first day there, and turn into the best receiver I can.”
