Bleachers news: Sad news for LSU as top CB commit to rivals

4-star CB Jaboree Antoine has committed to the Miami Hurricanes.
Miami beats over LSU to sign one of the country’s top cornerback prospects.
The Miami Hurricanes football program has found its lockdown cornerback of the future.

Class of 2025 cornerback Jaboree Antoine, a former LSU recruit, committed to UM on Saturday.

Antoine, who attended Westgate High School in New Iberia, Louisiana, chose Miami over LSU and Florida State.
According to 247Sports, Antoine is the No. 137 overall player in the USA, standing 6 feet 1 and weighing 170 pounds. He is ranked No. 71 in the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.

Antoine initially committed to in-state LSU in late January. He had two official trips this summer, to Florida State and Miami, before decommitting to LSU on June 23rd.

With Antoine’s commitment, Miami cornerback Chevis Jackson, a former LSU All-American, secures an important recruiting victory over his alma college.

As a junior, Antoine missed seven of twelve Westgate games due to a collarbone injury. As a sophomore, Antoine recorded 32 tackles, five interceptions, and 11 pass breakups. Antoine, a standout athlete, played quarterback and defensive back in high school. He had 1,953 all-purpose yards on offense as a sophomore.

Miami is aiming to land one of the top defensive back recruiting classes in the 2024 cycle, and Antoine now joins 4-star DB Hylton Stubbs, 4-star DB Amari Wallace, 4-star CB Chris Ewald, and 3-star CB Timothy Merritt.

Antoine joins Stubbs (No. 52) and offensive lineman SJ Alofaituli (No. 75) as the Hurricanes’ three Top 100 prospects, according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.

UM is attempting to sign its third consecutive top ten recruiting class in the country—a feat the program has never accomplished during the 247Sports era, which began with the 2011 recruiting cycle.

The Hurricanes are also attempting to sign the top class in the ACC in three straight cycles. With Mario Cristobal as head coach, Miami has ended Clemson’s dominance as the conference’s top recruiting program. From 2018 to 2022, the Tigers had the highest recruiting class in the ACC.
With another composite Top 100 commit, Antoine, pledging to the Hurricanes, Miami is once again on track to sign another top ten class under Cristobal.
