Skysport: Kansas City Chiefs trade Rusher in a Blockbuster trade

Kansas City Chiefs Add Pro Bowl Pass Rusher to Blockbuster Proposal
The New England Patriots and Pro Bowl pass rusher Matthew Judon appear to be at an impasse.
Judon’s training camp has gotten off to a rocky start, with him appearing to have a furious discussion with management and publicly refuting reports that the Patriots had given him a new contract.

Judon is entering the final year of a $56 million contract and will count $6.5 million against the cap this season, unless the Patriots reach an agreement on a long-term extension. Not unexpectedly, Judon’s name has been the focus of numerous trade speculations in recent months.

If the Patriots decide to move Judon, he may be a missing piece for a Super Bowl contender.
Could the Kansas City Chiefs trade for Matthew Judon?
The Kansas City Chiefs, under general manager Brett Veach, spent much of the summer significantly improving Patrick Mahomes’ supporting cast.
From signing dependable veteran receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown to selecting speedy former University of Texas wideout Xavier Worthy in the first round of this year’s draft, Mahomes may have the most electrifying crop of weapons at his disposal in his career.

However, a powerful defense and steady pass rush may be the Chiefs’ missing link in winning the Lombardi Trophy for the third year in a row.

According to NFL analyst Marcus Mosher, Judon could be the perfect fit to elevate Kansas City’s defense.

“One way to help Mahomes and the offense more this year would be to reinvest in the defense,” Mosher writes for The 33rd Team. “The Chiefs have spent several first-round picks on pass rushers, but none are as good as Judon. The Chiefs might “sell” Judon on the prospect of winning a title and paying him more guaranteed money than he is now receiving in New England. Kansas City is unlikely to commit to a long-term deal, although adding a year or two to his contract appears possible.

“The Chiefs are already favorites to win the Super Bowl, but acquiring Judon would extend the gap even more. He would be the greatest edge rusher on the roster right away, and he and Jones would make an excellent defensive line tandem.”

Judon begins the 2024 season with 66.5 career sacks and four Pro Bowl appearances on his resume. A trade to the Chiefs would allow Judon to add a Super Bowl ring to his resume and play an important role in Kansas City’s quest for history.
