Chiefs Sign Star Veteran to Huge Contract Extension During Camp
The Kansas City Chiefs and star kicker Harrison Butker have agreed to a four-year contract deal, making the famous postseason performer the NFL’s highest-paid kicker.
With a deal costing $26.5 million and $17.75 million guaranteed, the Chiefs have officially locked up the greatest kicker in the game for the prime of his career, with the franchise looking to build a dynasty.
Butker’s deal, which he negotiated himself, is worth $24 million more than Jake Elliot’s (Eagles) and Justin Tucker’s (Ravens) accords, putting the four-time Super Bowl winner alone atop the mountain at his position.
Chiefs News: K Harrison Butker agrees to a four-year extension
This is a well-deserved extension, as predicted by rumors as recently as Monday morning. Butker’s history of clutch accomplishments is second to none. He is one of the most significant Chiefs of this historic age, and his salary reflects this.
During his seven-year career, Butker is second in NFL history in field-goal percentage (89.1%), with the biggest field goal in Super Bowl history (57 yards) and the most made field goals (nine).
Whether it’s the clutch kick in the 13-second game against the Bills or the nonchalant kick that sent the Super Bowl to OT against the 49ers, Butker has always delivered in the most crucial times.
He’s earned this deal, no matter what the off-field problems are, and it’s fantastic to see the team reward a man who will undoubtedly be regarded as a legend.
We’ll see how this affects other significant talks for upcoming free agents, but for now, we can celebrate Butker’s accomplishments and his significance to the Kansas City Chiefs.
